If Conrad had a banner for every personal record he set last year, he’d have to add an extra room to house. The sure-handed second baseman set eight career highs in the best of his six minor league seasons. As if that weren’t enough for fans, chances are, if you hold an Express season-ticket, you heard from Conrad last season.
The case Conrad, now 27, made the biggest push of his career last season, notching career highs in games (138), at-bats (532), runs (100), total bases (284), doubles (40), triples (15), home runs (24) and RBI (94). He also proved his versatility, working third and second base.
He also lifted his batting average to .267 in 2006, marking his best Triple-A effort at the plate.
The calls Known for his fierce competitiveness on the field, Conrad showed off his compassionate side when he sat down for more than 25 hours of phone calls to more than 800 Round Rock Express season ticket holders. Though he admittedly got a lot of answering machines, Conrad was known to have fielded question after question from callers. The task took him weeks to complete, but Conrad insisted on finishing the calls.
